Should I rent or buy my tuxedo?

Unless you attend formal events regularly throughout the year you should rent your tuxedos. Renting is a simple and affordable way to have the most current styles for any occasion throughout the year. But as we tell all our clients it all depends on the style and the trend as well as how often you will be wearing it. A black suit for a casual day wedding will get more wear then a very trendy tails tuxedo jacket.

Are formalwear rules different in the summer?
Black tuxedos are perfect in every season. Fashion experts say that white and ivory work well in the summer and can be cooler in the heat! White, Winter White and Ivory also make a great choice for destination weddings and there are a number of different color tuxedos for the right style wedding.

How do the ushers get fitted?

If they are out of town, we will supply measurement cards for you to e-mail them or they can just down load it right from this site. Have the ushers select a local store that offers the service such as a men's shop and send in the card via fax, email or mail ( be sure to include the $20.00 security as well), at least two months before the wedding. What color socks should be worn with a gray suit?
The rule is that the socks match the trousers. Gray trousers equal gray socks, in a shade that comes close to the shade of the pants. And yes, that means with an all-white suit with white trousers, the socks should be white. Keep in mind guys that navy boxer shorts will show through your white pants so white with white.

Which is the better choice: pleated or flat-front pants?
Supposedly flat-front trousers are the more fashionable choice these days, and they look great because they create a nice clean look however. They can be hard to wear for someone who's not in great shape. A pleated style is more comfortable, a single pleat is best.

Our wedding ceremony is in the afternoon. Though we expect our reception to last into the evening, isn't a tuxedo usually worn only at night?
Technically, you're right. A tuxedo is for evening, and a morning suit or stroller is for daytime formal events. But for a wedding the rules are bent a bit because, as you know, these events tend to start during the day and extend past dark. A tuxedo would be appropriate as long as it matches the degree of formality of the wedding itself. Another option is a white dinner jacket and black tuxedo pants. Be sure to check with the photographer as well he may want a clean look and ask that the grooms men keep there jackets on for pictures before every thing gets to relaxed.

What is a European-style suit?
There are differences in European and American cuts. In general, the European suit is more fitted throughout and has more prominent shoulders than you generally see in the U.S., think of an upside down triangle, and most jackets rarely have back vents. American suits have a fuller cut and usually have a single or double vent back. These days, it's pretty common for any one suit to have a combination of characteristics of both styles, pronounced shoulders and a single vent.

We're all set with tuxedos for the groom and ushers, but what about the dads?
The bride's father usually walks down the aisle, so he is dressed in a style that reflects what the groomsmen are wearing-but he doesn't have to match. For example, if the groomsmen are wearing tuxedos with red vests, it's fine for the father of the bride to wear his tuxedo with a vest that is a neutral color. The father of the groom should correspond in style (again, not necessarily matching) with the father of the bride: Even if he doesn't walk down the aisle, he is an important part of the wedding day. Giving the father neutral colors works best such as black ties and vests that way they are formal and still match no matter what colors the party wears.
